Phosphatidylcholine IV Therapy & PK Protocol in NJ

At Zimmermann Modern Wellness, we offer intravenous phosphatidylcholine in line with the PK Protocol. Our Founder and Medical Director, Dr. Lisa Zimmermann MD trained directly under Patricia Kane, who developed this protocol for restoring impaired cellular membranes.

What is the PK Protocol ?

Named after its founder Patricia Kane, the PK protocol involves Phospholipid Exchange Therapy, an intravenous treatment that delivers a precise ratio of bioavailable lipid molecules in order to heal damaged cellular membranes. These essential lipids reverse cellular oxidation and free radical damage. By restoring the integrity of cellular membranes, those cellular membranes are able to effectively eliminate stored toxins. To further increase the efficacy of the phospholipids, glutathione (the master antioxidant) and leucovorin (a B vitamin) are added in a specific ratio.

What are the Benefits of
Phosphatidylcholine Therapy?

Nourishes Cellular Membranes

Lipids are the building blocks of cellular membranes. Exogenous toxins and infections cause cellular damage. IV Phosphatidylcholine provides the essential nutrients to repair damaged membranes.

Supports the Liver

As the liver is a primary organ in the detoxification and elimination of both endogenous and exogenous toxins, IV phosphatidylcholine can support the liver in its metabolic processes of detoxification.

Boosts Immune Function

By restoring proper cellular functioning, IV phosphatidylcholine can support immune cells carry out essential activities. This therapy is greatly effective in repairing a depleted and/or malfunctioning immune response.

Restores Healthy Methylation

Methylation, a metabolic process to eliminate toxins, can be impaired by depletion of key nutrients and/or an excessive toxin burden. The PK protocol delivers essential nutrients for proper methylation and detoxification.

Modulates Cellular Metabolism

Lipids are essential components of cellular organelles. By replenishing this key component, cells are able to effectively generate ATP (cellular energy) and carry out key activities.

Eliminates Stored Toxins

Infusion of intravenous phospholipids displaces toxins stored in damaged cellular membranes. This process essentially neutralizes stored toxins and pushes them out of cells, preparing them for elimination out of the body.

How Do I Know if Phosphatidylcholine Therapy is Right For Me?

Intravenous Phosphatidylcholine can be beneficial in numerous conditions involving: cellular damage, neurological damage, high toxin loads, and chronic illness. Dr. Zimmermann, in an initial evaluation and through key diagnostics will assess if this therapy might be beneficial for you.

Are there any Side Effects of Phosphatidylcholine Therapy?

As our cells and tissues are made up of phospholipids, side effects are rare. The most common side effect of any intravenous therapy is bruising and irritation around the site of the IV insertion that generally dissipates within 48 hours.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Treatment frequency and the amount of infusions greatly vary based on the severity and duration of the condition being treated. Generally, our treatment plans generally span three months to six months. However, there are cases of extended treatment plans in the instances of multiple conditions with long histories.

Phosphatidylcholine:
Our Treatment Protocol

At Zimmermann Modern Wellness, we hone into the root causes at play within our patients’ conditions or presentations being treated. Often in cases where there is heavy toxin burdens and/or infections causing cellular damage, it is essential to address the causative factor first, while pulsing regenerative therapies such as the PK protocol.

Generally, in an initial evaluation, functional medicine testing will be ordered to uncover the root causes contributing to cellular damage such as: mycotoxins, lyme and tickborne infections, heavy metals, environmental toxins, dysbiosis, etc
Once root causes are identified, a comprehensive treatment plan will be mapped out by our Medical director, Dr. Zimmermann.
